Wondering what to do with out of date herbs and spices? Make Zaatar bread. Read all about it in my post over at Phoenix New Times Chow Bella: Old herbs get a life.

I made yogurt using cardboard boxes, newspapers and hot water. Just cook the milk a bit, add starter yogurt and incubate overnight. Check out my Thrifty Cook tutorial over at The Phoenix New Times Chow Bella site:Â Homemade Yogurt in a Box
These are a group of fun felt and wood character boxes that I made. To start this projects head to your local craft store and pick up a circular wooden box with a lid. Back at your studio paint the box with acrylic craft paints in the design of the character you want to make. Next you’ll want sheets of craft felt in a color that goes with your character. Create a half round pillow form out of the felt and stuff it with batting. Now you’ll use more craft felt to cut eyes, nose, mouth, ears or any other features for your creatures. Glue these on to the top of the stuff felt pillow using tacky glue. Create wings or tails or whatever other elements are needed out of pipe cleaners and glue these down to the lid of your painted box. Finally glue the felt half pillow on top of the lid of your box. Now you have a keepsake box! As an alternative to the keepsake box glue the lid down to the bottom with E-6o00 glue, cut a slit into the side of the wood box and a circle hole in the bottom of the box. Place a cork in the bottom hole and now you have a bank! Fabulous! The following are some of the character boxes I made. Happy Crafting xoxo Lovely Lula
With Fall fast approaching that means the holidays are right on our heels. During the Fall and into Winter I love hanging wreaths around the house. I prefer fun, funky non-traditional wreaths though. This week I created a wreath using vintage pillowcases cut into strips and tee-shirt yarn to wrap a wreath form that I picked up for a buck at my local dollar store. Then I used the same materials plus some hot pink rope on the Provo Craft Knifty Knitter (smallest size Flower Loom) to make flowers for the base of the wreath. I am so excited about using thrifted recycled materials, bright colors and flowers. Click here for the complete tutorial: T-Shirt Yarn Wreath Happy Crafting xoxo Lovely Lula

Shopping around in a thrift store recently I found this great little frame and knew it had potential for a redo! I used the Provo Craft Cindy Loo Cartridge to cute up this little picture frame. I used purple, grey and teal vinyl to cut different images on the Cricut. I used left over vinyl pieces to cut the grass and bird house hanger, by hand. I also cut apart the doily into pieces to create something truly my own! I like to mess with the designs a bit to put my own spin on them! You can make this project with any of the cartridges and any color combination of vinyl. For your best bet choose a glass or plastic frame – the vinyl will stick best to those surfaces. Click here for the Vinyl Picture Frame How To. Have fun with it and happy crafting! xoxo
