Memory Journal

The weekend before Christmas I did a workshop with Free Arts tween and teen girls. We worked with the ideal of visual art memory journals. Because it is time to think about New Year’s Crafts, Journals and logging events and activities. What will you keep note of, of this past year?  I created a book with the New Year in mind. I will use this as a journaling book for the next few weeks as I write and doodle about 2011.

I used my Cuttlebug and the Clockworks Embossing Folders to pull the details of this journaling book together. Once it is complete I will bind it on my YourStory. Here’s to the New Year.

Felt Flower Bouquet

Summer time in Arizona is really like January in Minnesota, only brown instead of white. We lack living vegetation and long for flowers, which we’ll have to wait until February to see. So I decided to use the Flower Shoppe Cartridge to create a Felt Bouquet. These are also all pins so they have a dual purpose! I used my Cricut to cut card stock to use as templates to cut out the felt pieces. I also used my Cuttlebug and some of the flower dies to cut out the felt flower shapes. Once I glued all the felt pieces together with Tacky Glue, I attached vintage buttons and then glued pin backs to all of the flowers. They are ready to wear or gift.

May Flowers

I created a wall hanging box for my daughters teacher as an end of the year thank you. It is a simple wooden box, painted red. The cooper is embossed on the Cuttlebug using the Musical Flourish embossing folder. I glued down a piece of fabric and the thanks is cut out of yellow wool felt also on the Cuttlebug.  The flourish and the flowers were cut on the Cricut using the Straight From The Nest cartridge.  Glue it all down and you have the perfect gift to say thanks!

Springtime Barrette

I made a Springtime Fun barrette for the short one to wear to a party she was invited to. She is in pre-school so learning letters and simple words are the “it” thing for the kids!  I used the Cuttlebug to cut the shapes out of wool felt. I used an over-sized barrette and spray painted it hot pink.

Here are the steps on how I made it

Ladybug Book

It is spring time and along with flowers comes ladybugs. Using the Your Story machine I created this cute ladybug book for the short one and the smallest one. I made a sewn red and black felt ladybug top for the front cover and then cut all of the pages out of white card stock in the round shape to match the top, next I illustrated each page with a story I wrote called Leatrice Loves Candy. I bound the edge of the pages using the Your Story and then finally glued the fabric cover on.

These are the individual illustrated pages of the story book

The gum drops and candies were cut on the Cricut and the “Yum” on the last page was created using the Country Life embossing folder on the Cuttlebug. The green line throughout is colored masking tape  — Happy crafting xoxo

Spring Time Belt

Spring is upon us and that means celebrating with flowers. I used my Cuttlebug to make a flower filled belt.

I found a great canvas, army green belt at the dollar store and used the Asterisks and flower Cuttlebug dies to cut yellow and pink wool felt flowers.

I used Tacky Glue to glue the pieces together and to glue the flowers to the belt.

I allowed it to dry over night and voila’ a cute, spring time flower belt.

Skull Bracelet

I made this fun and edgy skull bracelet for Mardi Gras. It has the green and purple colors and the spooky skull theme often associated with New Orleans and Mardi Gras. I made the cuff  and the skull out of Shrinky Dink material. The skull is cut on the Cuttlebug using the Beware Cuttlebug Die and then shrunk with a heat gun.

Skull And Hearts Book

Happy Valentines day! I made this fun book out of manila file dividers, scrapbook paper and my Your Story machine. For the decorative skull on front I used my Cuttlebug and the Beware die and embossing folder combo on clear plastic. All of the pages were tucked in and bound on my Your Story machine.
