This is a chocolate espresso cake that I made for the Tall Ones Birthday. It also had espresso flavored frosting and I colored the fondant coffee tan. I cut the fondant shapes on my Cricut Cake using the From My Kitchen cartridge. I also rolled small balls from the fondant and then smashed them down in the center with a tooth-pick to make little fake coffee beans.

For my sisters birthday I created a campfire / marshmallow roast cake. Camping and eating marshmallows are two of her very favorite things. I had the dilemma in front of me that I had to create a cake to serve 50 people, the party was off site, not at a home and had to be transported by car for a 45 minute drive. So while it isn’t as pretty I made a sheet cake and just left the cake in the pan to decorate and this worked out really well. This cake was a lot of fun to make. I created the fire logs and roasting twigs out of brown fondant and cut them on my Cricut Cake. I piped on the orange flames (butter cream frosting) and then cut mini-marshmallows in half and attached them on top of the branches with a little bit of butter cream frosting. I won’t revel her age but this isn’t the first nor the last time that we’ll but a 2 candle and a 9 candle on her cake.
The Cuttlebug embossing folders can be used for more then just paper. I busted out some Sculpey clay recently, rolled it into a thin pancake and then pressed it into the embossing folders. For the bird cage I used the 12″ Embossing Border, Caged Bird and for the bird I used the Birds and Swirls folder. To finish them I used sharpie thin pens to draw on top of the outlines to add a little Lula to them! Once the pieces were cooled out of the oven I strung them on a hot pink rubber chain. I call this book almost handmade because the outer cover shell was store bought and I decorated it. Ahhhh . . I love the ease of that. Provo Craft sells the covers called Album Covers but I thought they were a little uhm you know sleepy – so I had to give it some pizazz. This book is ready to be used as a journal, a scrapbook, a photo album, a story book or maybe I’ll give it as a gift and let the gift receiver make that decision. For the creation of it I used acrylic paint, paper, fabric, ribbon, a button, thread, tape, glue and stamps. To put the book together I used the Your Story.
