On my studio door I have a chalk board that my daughter draws on and I write notes on, sometimes. Most of the time it just sticks on the door empty of activity. So I figured since I am in the Halloween decorating mode, I would start to use it as a sign to celebrate.
Here is the story:
1. I started out with a round, vinyl, chalkboard sticker. It is stuck to my glass studio door.
2. Using my Cricut and the October 31st Cartridge I cut a ghost out of white sticker vinyl and attached it on top of the chalkboard shape.
3. Using different color chalks I wrote “Boo” and “Happy Halloween”
I will be using this for every holiday to come.
So far I haven’t gotten around to carving a pumpkin but I wanted them around so I opted to decorate my little pumpkins for now.
These are all made from cut sticker vinyl using the Cricut and the Pumpkin Carving Cartridge.
For this Halloween card I used a pumpkin orange card stock for the main card. I cut the hunted house using the Cricut and the Pumpkin Carving cartridge out of black vinyl. I hand cut the grave yard below out of the same black vinyl. The poke-a-dot stripe at the bottom is Japanese Washi Tape. Finally, I attached a plastic skeleton, with glue, that I picked up at a party supply store. Happy Halloween!
This is my Halloween centerpiece this year. Such a simple project that I saw in Martha Stewart’s Halloween Book. I used an empty pickle jar, applesauce jar and salsa jar for these. I washed each one and allowed them to air dry then I coated the inside of each one with orange craft paint and poured the excess back into the paint container. I allowed the inside of each jar to dry completely. The faces, a grumpy pirate, a jack-o-lantern and a dopey dracula, are made by hand cutting adhesive backed, sheet vinyl. Just peel the backing off after cutting the shape and stick it to the jar. The final step was to wrap black wire around the rim and twist it into a loop. Tie an orange ribbon around the wire loop so jars and hang as well as sit on a table.
These were so fun to make I think more may be in my future.
Need some quick simple art in your home? Or do you just feel like playing a bit? I recently took on a little home decor project and by little I do mean mini. I used the Cricut, the Heritage cartridge, and some hot orange vinyl to make mini works of art on canvas. The Cricut cuts vinyl like butter. I played around with the different shapes and with scale until I was happy with the look and the combination. I also used colored masking tape and Sharpie markers to add to the pieces.
