Ideas For Gifts

I thought I would share a couple of recent card designs I created. The two thank yous were in fact thank you notes and the bird card was part of a SWAP for Creative Escape for August 2010.

The state bird of AZ card was made using the 50 States Cartridge with my Cricut and the bird shape was cut from burnt umber cricut sticker vinyl and the AZ state shape was cut from Bazzill card stock.  The long No. 10 thank you was made by cutting the “thank you” out on my Cricut and the card stock was again Bazill, the flag paper was a scrap I had laying around and the tape is Japanese Washi Tape. For the pink card I cut a “thanks” again out with my Cricut, used Japanese Washi Tape, a Sharpie marker, a simple thank you stamp that I have had forever, I went around the “thanks” with a white out pen and then applied with Diamond Glaze. I finished it off by adding a foam craft heart and a hot rock.

Go make some cards now! xoxo Happy crafting Lovely Lula

I found this cute and simple kids bathing suit at my local dollar store and instantly knew it was perfect for use with the YUDU. I used a flower from the Cake Basics Cartridge and cut it out in three different sizes on the Cricut. I then burned the designs to a screen and printed one color at a time on the YUDU.  Allowing each pass to dry completely before printing the next color. I have been playing in the studio on some new paper goodies and I thought I should share. Here are the latest creation. This card is made using the Cricut sweet treats cartridge for the cupcake. The stamp and Happy birthday Banner is from the Imaginisce B-day Bash Collection. The gem hot rock is also from the irock from Imaginesce.

With all the scraps that have been laying around my studio table I decided to whip up a few cards. It has been a while since I have just sat down and made cards. It actually felt pretty good. Having a greeting card company with a high production rate kind of turns you off from making cards ever again just for fun. I am so glad I did though because it was really a good time!

Road Card - Made with scraps of map, yellow ledger paper, vinyl and a road image under a plastic dome

Lime Time Thank You - Made with card stock, flocked ribbon and a rubber stamp

Criminally Cute - Made with embossed card stock, fabric scraps and found magazine images

Lightening and Cloud - Made with perforator, cut paper and ink

To celebrate spring time I made a girls pillow-case dress, inspired by the book “Craft Challenge: Dozens of Ways to Repurpose a Pillowcase” by Suzanne J. E. Tourtillott

I started with a vintage pillow-case that I found at a thrift store for a buck ninety-nine. I added in a second vintage/ used pillow-case also purchased at a thrift store that had a print. I used the Cricut Forever Young cartridge and several of the flower dies for the Cuttlebug to make appliques.  The full how to is located in the downloadable PDF below titled Pillow-case dress. This is a one day project not including the thrift shopping which I encourage you to do often because there are so many goodies to be had at thrift shops and yard sales.

The things you’ll need for this project include:     vintage/used pillow case(s), sewing machine, thread, scissors, Cricuit, Cuttlebug, chalk, no-sew tape, iron, fusible interfacing and Velcro or buttons.

Enjoy making this project and happy crafting! Lovely Lula
