This weekend I was invited to a friends lovely garden party and she let me contribute by whipping up mini carrot cakes. They were so good and gone so quickly. My daughter (4) loved using the Cuisinart to chop the carrots. I used a simple recipe which I’ll share here: Mini Carrot Cupcakes Recipe. To make the carrot top greens I made green fondant and cut them on my machine using the Cricut Cake for the shape I used the Freshly Picked Cartridge.
Okay seriously – those who know me, know my love for the cupcake. Now I have a new tool to totally tear it up in my new baking studio! It is crazy. It is called the Cricut Cake. Here is the thing – I made my first project (see below) with fondant that I colored but the thing that I discovered is - I can use it not only for fondant and gum paste but also for fruit roll ups, cookie dough, pie crust, cheese, caramel sheets – what else? Well pretty much anything thin that can be rolled out and will stick together when chilled. Who needs a special goody for an upcoming party? Mmm hmm . . . I am ready! Oh by the way I am having a party with the Cricut Cake at a friends house in June – wanna come my Phoenix friends? Just let me know!

I so heart paper play days. You know those days when you just fool around with the paper you have on hand and see what comes of it. I had one of those days recently. I came up with this paper wreath project. I had so much fun just cutting paper, gluing and playing. I used my Cricut and the Heritage and Tie The Knot cartridges to make this project. March is National Craft Month! Perfect since March is also my birthday – what a treat! Crafters everywhere let’s hold hands and sing at the top of our lungs that we get to celebrate what we love! So what am I doing for National Craft Month? Launching this new site!!! Yea – I am so excited to finally be able to share the new arm of Laboratory5 Inc. This site will forever more be the home of all things crafty. It will focus specifically on How To’s and on crafter activities. There will be weekly How To’s offered as gift projects, home decor ideas, wearable’s, accessories, tips and tools.
