As I gear up for all of the fall and holiday baking I plan to do, I decided I needed a new apron to celebrate the season. So I made an apron and used this Amy Butler Apron pattern as inspiration but varied it to suit my needs. Pulling out the flour, sugar and eggs right now . . . . .
My love hate relationship with Anthropologie is really a love. I just say hate because most of the time I am in there I say “I wish I would have made that!” Sometimes I do purchase goodies that I can write off as business expenses and I turn them into crafts for sale. This is one such project. I purchased these fabulous tea towels there, brought them home and instantly put them to a functional use other then just hand wiping. I made them into pillow covers. This was a really simple sewing project and next to the tea towels themselves you just need some pillow forms, scrap fabric and some ribbon or ties. For the complete tutorial chick here: Tea Towel Pillows. Pick up some cute tea towels from anywhere and make these pillows. Happy Crafting xoxo Lovely Lula.
Head on over to the Phoenix New Times Chow Bella blog to read my piece called Stop, you can eat those rotten tomatoes. Tips on using up tomatoes headed to the compost bin.
I love dual usage items. This super cute skull and flower Fashion hair clip is also a pin. The bottom layer is felt, on top of that is cut vintage pillowcase fabric, the skull is made from pressing Sculpey into a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Boo To You. Once the Sculpey skull was cooled out of the oven I drew on top of it with a Sharpie marker pen. I topped the front off by using my Imaginisce irock to attach black hot rocks. On the back I attached both a hair clip and a pin back so this little lovely can serve in an either or manner. For the full tutorial click here: Flower Hair Clip Happy Crafting xoxo Lovely Lula
Need some quick simple art in your home? Or do you just feel like playing a bit? I recently took on a little home decor project and by little I do mean mini. I used the Cricut, the Heritage cartridge, and some hot orange vinyl to make mini works of art on canvas. The Cricut cuts vinyl like butter. I played around with the different shapes and with scale until I was happy with the look and the combination. I also used colored masking tape and Sharpie markers to add to the pieces.
