I created this black bird covered branch in the Halloween Spirit  but if the colors were changed it could be used any time of the year as a great decoration.

Directions to make this project:

1. Get a small tree branch from you neighborhood. Lay it out on top of newspaper.

2. Spray paint the entire thing, allowing for drying time in between coats. For this project I used a metallic flat black.

3. Once dry, place the base of the branch into a glass vase. Fill the vase with a weighted item of your choice. For my project I used yellow popcorn kernels.

4. Next, using your Cricut, black card stock and any of the Halloween cartridges cut out birds in all different sizes from 1 inch to 5 inches. The Halloween cartridges include: Happy Hauntings, October 31st and Pumpkin Carving.

5. Peel the birds off of the Cricut sticky mat, place them all over the branch and back them with standard scotch tape to hold them in place.

6. For a final touch and to add a little bling, paint a wing on using glitter.

This is my take on a fall cornucopia. I filled mine with Halloween candy and this will be the grab “bag” for trick-or-treaters. I love candy corns as visual icon and since orange is my favorite color I just can help but love these little treats.

Here is how to make one of your own:

1. Start with a large piece of white poster board. Cut it into a baseball field pattern. Round at the outer edge and instead of coming to a point, cut it flat at the base.

2. Roll it in to a cone shape.

3. Use binder clips to hold it into the shape. Lift edges and glue with tacky glue. Keep binder clips in place until it is fully dry.

4. Once dry, divide it into three sections. Use craft paint and paint the base white, the middle orange and the outer edge yellow. repeat this for both the inside and outside. Allow to dry completely by standing up on the outer edge.

5. Using broad cloth, tear a strip of white, orange and yellow about 1 inch wide and long enough to go around your candycopia. Glue down with tacky glue.

6. If you have too much room and not enough candy to fill the whole thing, stuff the bottom with orange tissue paper.

7. Add in candy of choice and enjoy!

Haunted House Skeleton Card

For this Halloween card I used a pumpkin orange card stock for the main card. I cut the hunted house using the Cricut and the Pumpkin Carving cartridge out of black vinyl. I hand cut the grave yard below out of the same black vinyl. The poke-a-dot stripe at the bottom is Japanese Washi Tape. Finally, I attached a plastic skeleton, with glue,  that I picked up at a party supply store. Happy Halloween!

This spider is hanging out on the glass of my front door. To make her I used my Cricut and the October 31st cartridge and cut her out of black card stock. To create the web I drew a drawing of a web on a piece of paper and then I cover the piece of paper with a transparent teflon sheet. I used the drawing underneath as my guide and “traced” over top of it with hot glue. I allowed the glue to dry completely on the teflon. Once dry I peeled it off and stuck it to the glass on the window. The sticky plastic quality of the hot glue attaches perfectly to glass and pulls of when you are ready to take it down.

I kind of want these in every window in my house but I think the tall one in the house might have a different idea.

Let the Halloween fun begin. I have created so many Halloween projects these last few weeks I am super excited to share. To kick of the frenzy I created this skull mobile to hang from the ceiling. It is created by cutting skulls out of black card stock using the Cuttlebug and the Beware die. The wire is hot pink coated light gauge steel. I also added on a few cute little items with pink and or white paper using various punches. I loved doing this pink and black as a twist on traditional Halloween colors also you can keep it up long after the holiday.
